Please note, extended hours are liable to change at short notice during Drs holidays.
We run all our surgeries by an appointment only system. Please remember that each appointment is for one person only. Children under 16 should normally be accompanied by an adult. If you cannot keep your appointment please let us know as soon as possible.
If you so wish, we are happy to provide a chaperone during physical examinations. Your doctor may offer this or you may request a chaperone yourself.
Appointments with a Doctor or a Nurse can be requested by contacting the surgery either by phone or in person or using the online service.
A proportion of our appointments are available to book up to 4 weeks in advance. The majority however are to book on the day, via phone, website or at front desk. On the day appointments are available each day but will be with any doctor, not necessarily the doctor of your choice depending on availability. We also have a number of slots available with our Nurse Practitioner in the minor illness clinic that can be booked online from 6.30pm the evening before. The Nurse Practitioner/Minor Illness Nurse can prescribe. The receptionist may ask you the nature of the problem to ensure everybody is seen by the most appropriate person.
However, if a patient is deemed by the Doctors to require urgent attention, they will be seen that day.
Receptionists are available to take your calls between 8.00am and 6.30 pm Monday to Friday.
We try to make sure you see the doctor of your choice but if they are not available we may ask you to see another doctor.
If you are too ill to come to the surgery and you require a visit at home, please call the surgery before 10.00am. It is helpful if you can provide the receptionist with an indication of why a home visit is required. Home visits take up much more of a doctor’s time than a consultation in the surgery, so if you are mobile please come into the surgery to be seen.
You may be offered a 5 minute telephone consultation with the doctor. If the doctor feels they need to see you, they may ask you to come down to see them on the same day. Some blood tests and other results can be discussed over the phone. This saves you having to attend in person and you may be offered a ” book ahead” telephone appointment. This is still in the trial stages but so far, patients seem happy with this option. We would appreciate your feedback via the Friends and Family Test (FFT), either on this website or by completing a card in reception.

Extended Access in Luton – Offering Routine Appointments through a Luton wide Extended Access service for Health Concerns
The Luton Extended Access Service will be available from 4th September 2018 for all Luton patients to book routine appointments with a GP, Practice Nurse or Healthcare Assistant through Barton Hills Medical Group. This service will operate Monday to Friday evenings from 18:00 – 21:00 and Saturday and Sunday mornings from 08:30 – 14:30 at two local GP Practices. Patients unable to get to clinics at our surgery for Chronic Disease Management such as Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, Hypertension and Rheumatoid Arthritis may attend these clinics to have reviews. The clinicians in this service will have full access to your GP records from the surgery.
